Spring's always a good time for a fresh start, so it's also a good time to release a new batch of wash kits with a new look. This season, our brushes* will come with natural wood finish handles and branded (as in burned, hot like fire, toasted, etc.) logos.
For years, the handles on our wooden brushes have been red and black, dipped like the handles of your grandpa’s screwdrivers. The pop of color was a nod to style and identity on an otherwise wonderfully functional and utilitarian product. We liked it. Still do, but we're not doing it anymore.
That tiny bit of flair created a lot of waste, and the paint and plastic coating involve use a lot of chemicals. And in the end, it was unnecessary. With our new set of branding irons, we’re still making our mark, but in a cleaner, more sustainable, and more durable way. When the new brushes finally do wear out (it takes awhile), end-of-life breakdown will be cleaner as well. We like how the change looks and what it accomplishes, and hope you will, too. They're available here.
There are still plenty of things we’d like to improve about our processes, our branding (the cool kind, not the hot kind), and our sustainability. This is a start.
*OK, not all of our brushes. But more on that later.
